UK VisaCalc does what the first Google result leaves to you: it crosses your occupation code, salary, hours and situation to give the exact Skilled Worker threshold and the gap in pounds, prices a visa for the whole family on the Home Office fee table of 8 October 2026, and dates your indefinite leave to remain and your citizenship with the rolling 180-day rule, where other calculators show stale fees or ask for your phone number. The main numbers in force: a Skilled Worker job must pay at least £41,700 or the going rate of its code; the health surcharge is £1,035 a year per person (£776 for students and children); a partner visa needs £29,000 of income or the savings that replace it; settlement costs £3,226 a person and naturalisation £1,839 with the ceremony. Every result is calculated in your browser from those official figures, with the source and the date printed under it.

What the main visas cost one adult in 2026

Application fee and immigration health surcharge for one adult applying alone, on the table in force since 8 October 2026. A partner pays the same again; each child pays the same fee and a surcharge of £776 a year. The full fee table lists every line the Home Office publishes, and the fee history shows how each one moved since 31 January 2024.

What changed, and what is coming

  1. Skilled Worker threshold raised to £41,700 and skill level to degree level: 170 codes become "medium skilled", open only through the shortage lists; overseas recruitment of care workers closes. Salary threshold

  2. The Home Office opens its consultation on "earned settlement", which would lengthen the usual qualifying period; no rule change has been laid yet. What is proposed

  3. English at level B2 for new Skilled Worker applicants (B1 kept for extensions by those already on the route).

  4. Fee table uplift: Skilled Worker from abroad £769 → £819; salary must now be met in every pay period.

  5. Current fee table and Statement of Changes HC 584 in force; ILR stays at £3,226 (it was £2,885 in January 2024).

  6. Student money rises to £1,570 a month in London and £1,203 elsewhere. Student calculator

  7. Last day to issue certificates on the Temporary Shortage List; most Immigration Salary List entries expire the same day. Codes concerned

  8. Graduate visas applied for from this date last 18 months instead of two years (PhD graduates keep three).

  9. Settlement applications need English at B2 instead of B1 on most routes, including Skilled Worker. ILR calculator

Calculators by need

How the calculators work, and what they cannot do

Where every figure comes from

Fees come from the spreadsheet the Home Office publishes with each change, the immigration and nationality fees table: the site reads all 12 versions since 31 January 2024, so a fee shown here is the line of the table, not a figure copied from an article. Salary thresholds and going rates come from Appendix Skilled Worker and Appendix Skilled Occupations of the Immigration Rules, the absence rules from Appendix Continuous Residence and the Home Office caseworker guidance, the family income test from Appendix FM. The register of licensed sponsors is the CSV file the Home Office posts every working day; the copy on this site is dated 13 October 2026 and holds 127,800 organisations. All of it is public sector information reused under the Open Government Licence.

The rules were last read on 13 October 2026, after the Statement of Changes HC 584. When the Home Office lays a new statement, the parameters are read again before the site is rebuilt; the date at the top of each page tells you which version you are looking at.

The Skilled Worker check, step by step

The tool first looks at the occupation code. Of the 412 codes in the appendix, 91 are open to anyone, 30 health and education codes follow national pay scales, 170 medium skilled codes are open only through the Immigration Salary List or the Temporary Shortage List (or to workers already in them), and 113 are never eligible. It then takes the going rate, pro-rates it to your weekly hours (the tables assume 37.5), caps the hours counted at 48, applies the floor and the discount of your situation, and compares the result with your guaranteed basic pay.

The printed discounted rates of the appendix (90%, 80% and 70% columns) are used as the Home Office rounds them, so the tool shows the figure your sponsor will see on the certificate screen. Workers sponsored since before 4 April 2024 keep lower, transitional rates until 2030; choose that status in the tool and it switches to them.

The cost of a visa for a family

An application fee is paid by every person, partner and children included, at the same length of stay as the main applicant. The immigration health surcharge is charged per person for each year of the visa: a part year of six months or less costs half, more than six months a full year, and a visa of six months or less from abroad costs nothing. Children under 18 and students pay £776 instead of £1,035. Health and Care Worker visa holders, visitors and settlement applications pay no surcharge at all.

A Skilled Worker family of four on a five-year visa from abroad pays £24,582; the same family on a Health and Care Worker visa pays £2,512. The cost calculator and the surcharge calculator show the split line by line.

ILR and citizenship dates

The settlement calculator counts your qualifying years from the start date you give, lets you apply 28 days before they end, and checks every rolling 12-month window for more than 180 days abroad. It counts whole days only, as the Home Office does: the day you leave and the day you return are days in the UK. If a window goes over, the period restarts when you came back from the trip that broke it, and the tool says so instead of showing a date you could not use.

Citizenship then needs five years in the UK (three for the spouse of a British citizen), no more than 450 days abroad in that period (270 on the spouse route), no more than 90 in the last 12 months, presence in the UK at the start of the period, and twelve months on indefinite leave unless you are married to a British citizen. The citizenship calculator finds the first day all of them hold.

The spouse visa income test

Since 11 April 2024 a partner applying for the first time needs a combined income of £29,000 a year, whatever the number of children. Couples first granted under the old rule keep the £18,600 threshold, plus £3,800 for the first child and £2,400 for each other child, when they extend. Savings can replace missing income: the first £16,000 do not count, and each pound above it counts for 1/2.5 of a pound of income (one for one at settlement). With no income at all, the savings needed are £88,500. The financial requirement page explains which income counts.

What no calculator can tell you

Each tool applies published rules to the numbers you type. It cannot check that a job really matches its code, that a relationship is genuine, that bank statements are in the format Appendix FM-SE demands, or that a criminal record or a past overstay does not lead to refusal. Absences for compelling reasons can be disregarded at the caseworker's discretion, and nothing here can predict that. The site is not legal advice and has no link with the Home Office; for a refusal, an appeal or an unusual history, speak to a solicitor or an adviser registered with the Immigration Advice Authority.

Sponsors and employers

A worker can only be sponsored by an organisation on the register: 122,416 organisations held a Skilled Worker licence on 13 October 2026, 95 of them with a B rating that stops them issuing new certificates. The sponsor search looks up an employer by name and town; the sponsor licence calculator adds up what the employer pays: the licence (£611 or £1,682), £525 per certificate and the immigration skills charge.

Questions people ask

Are these calculators official?

No. They are published by Radif Partners, an independent company with no link to the Home Office or UK Visas and Immigration. They apply the official fee table, the Immigration Rules and the sponsor register published on GOV.UK, with the date of each source printed on the page, but the decision on an application always belongs to the Home Office.

How much does a UK visa cost in 2026?

It depends on the route and length: £135 for a six-month visit, £819 for a Skilled Worker visa of up to three years from abroad, £2,064 for a partner visa from abroad. Most long visas add the health surcharge of £1,035 a year per person, which often costs more than the fee itself.

What is the Skilled Worker salary threshold now?

£41,700 a year or the going rate of the occupation code, whichever is higher, for most first applications since 22 July 2025. Lower floors apply to new entrants, relevant PhDs and Immigration Salary List jobs (£33,400), non-STEM PhDs (£37,500) and listed health and education jobs (£25,000).

Does anything I type leave my computer?

No. The calculators run in your browser; the values you enter can be kept in the address bar so that you can share or bookmark a result, but they are never sent to this site or anyone else. The sponsor search downloads one letter of the public register and searches it on your device.

How up to date is the information?

The fee table is the one in force from 8 October 2026, the rules were read on 13 October 2026 after Statement of Changes HC 584, and the sponsor register copy is dated 13 October 2026. Each page prints these dates under its calculator so you can see at once whether a later change could affect you.

Is the five-year route to ILR being replaced?

The Home Office consulted in November 2025 on "earned settlement", which would make ten years the usual qualifying period with reductions for contribution. As of 13 October 2026 no rule doing so had been laid, so the calculators use the periods in force: five years for most work and family routes, three for some Global Talent holders, ten for long residence.
